RIO Challenge v4 - C04.01 - Enrollment Open Date
Enrollment open dates allow administration to define a timeframe for students to enroll themselves into Study Offerings (which are the courses offered).
Administrators can easily open enrollment for the Study Term (semester), and all the Study Offerings for that Study Term.
Follow this exercise to see how to open up Study Offerings for enrollment.

Steps to complete the challenge
RIO University is finalising the preparations for the new Term.
Students will begin enrolling to Study Offerings (courses offered to students for enrollment).
As the enrollment officer, you can open up the enrollment for this Term's Study Offerings, by simply defining the enrollment open date on this Term.
- Click on the 'RIO Challenge v4' tab at the bottom left of the page. Click on 'Initiate Challenge' to generate the data required for this challenge.
- From the App Launcher at the top left of the page, search for ‘Individual Program Enrollments’.
Select the list view ‘C04.01 - Enrollment Open Date’. Click to open the record created for this challenge.
- This Individual Program Enrollment is a record of Fred Smith's enrollment to the Undergraduate Program.
Navigate to the ‘Enrollments’ tab to view the Enrollment Wizard.
Ensure that the 1st tile is selected, where you can see that Fred Smith is currently starting his Term #1.
- Review the list of Study Offerings.
Notice that none of them are open for enrollment. There is no enroll button under the ‘Action’ column.
This is because enrollment has not been opened.
As the administrator, you will need to open up the enrollment for he Study Offerings for this Term.
- From the App Launcher, search for ‘Study Terms’.
Select the list view ‘C04.01 - Enrollment Open Date’. Then, open the record ‘C04.01 - Current Term’.
- This is the Term that Fred Smith is currently enrolled in, as we saw earlier in step #3 and 4.
Scroll down to the ‘Enrollment Settings’ section.
Notice that the ‘Enrollment Open Date’ field is empty.
To open up enrollment today, let's add a date:

- You have successfully defined the ‘Enrollment Open Date’ for the current Term.
Study Offerings are the courses that are offered during a particular Term, and they inherit the Term's ‘Enrollment Open Date’.
This means that the date you defined in step #6 above, will apply to all the Study Offerings for this same Term.
To see this, navigate to the ‘Offerings’ tab, and click to enter into any of the Study Offering records.
- While viewing any of the Study Offerings from that list, scroll down to the ‘Study Offering Date/Time’ section.
Find the ‘Enrollment Open Date (Calculated)’ field.
Notice that it inherits the same value from the Study Term, which you have set in step #6 previously.
Also, notice that the ‘Status’ field will indicate that enrollment has been opened.
- Enrollment is now opened for this current Term's Study Offerings.
Let's return to Fred Smith's Individual Program Enrollment record to see the changes.
From the App Launcher, search for ‘Individual Program Enrollments’.
Select the list view ‘C04.01 - Enrollment Open Date’. Click to enter into the Individual Program Enrollment record for Fred Smith.
- Navigate to the ‘Enrollments’ tab.
Just as in step #3 previously, ensure that the 1st tile is selected to view the relevant Study Offerings for Fred Smith.
- Notice that the Study Offerings are now available for enrollment.
The ‘Action’ column now displays buttons for the user to click and enroll into the Study Offerings.
This is because the enrollment open date has been defined in step #6, which started the day before today.
In summary, once you've opened the enrollment date on the Study Term, this will also open enrollment for its Study Offerings (the courses offered in that Term).
