RIO Challenge v4 - C08.01 - Admin Setup

RIO Education is a Salesforce-based Student Information System.

Admin users utilise its internal (Salesforce) console to manage a variety of tasks, ranging from data management, to session scheduling, and much more.

Follow this exercise to see how to create admin users and manage their profile and permissions.

Steps to complete the challenge

RIO University has just implemented RIO Education Student Information System.

The university has nominated an additional staff to be one of the administrators for the new SIS.

As an existing admin, you will need to add another admin user and assign the necessary permissions.

1. Click on the 'RIO Challenge Ivy' tab at the bottom left of the page. Click on 'Initiate Challenge' to generate the data required for this challenge.
   
   
   
    
2. Click on the gear icon at the top right of the page, then, click on ‘Setup’.
   
   
   
    
3. In the ‘Quick Find’ search bar, search for ‘Users’ and click to open it.
   
   
   
    
4. You will see a list of users for your instance.
   
   Recall that you need to add a new system administrator user.
   
   Thus, create a new user with the following details:
   
   
   
   
   
   Make sure that the First Name and Last Name are copied exactly as seen here.
    

5. You have now created a new System Administrator user.
   
   But without the right permissions, the user will not be able to access and interact with RIO Education objects and features.
   
   
   Scroll down the newly created User record, and search for ‘Permission Set Assignments’.
   
   Then, click on ‘Edit Assignments’ to assign the ‘REDU - Admin’ permission set.
   
   
   
   
    
6. You may now review your newly created user.
   
   This user has the correct profile (System Administrator), and the correct permission set (REDU - Admin).
   
   Click to enter into the REDU - Admin permission set.
   
   
   
   
   
    
7. This permission set is a collection of RIO Education IVY objects and field permissions.
   
   Click on “Object Settings” to view these permissions.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   From there, you can see the RIO Education IVY objects that have been granted permissions such as Read, Create, Edit, Delete, View All, and Modify All.
   
   
    
8. Go back to the previous page, and click on ‘Apex Class Access’.
   
   
   
   
   
   From there, you can see the list of RIO Education IVY apex classes that the user can access and run.
   
   
   
    
9. Congratulations, you have completed the challenge! Click on the 'RIO Challenge Ivy' tab at the bottom left of the page, and click on 'Complete Challenge'.
