This article will cover the process of creating "assignments" or "exams" for grading purposes, as well as the Grade records that will be generated.
Grade Criteria serve as records of exams or assignments that a student will take for a Course, which will then be graded by the faculty.
Grade Criteria records are created under a Course.
The weight of the grades is defined here, as well as the sequence (which of the assignments or exams will be taken first, and so on).
Multiple Grade Criteria can also be created under a parent Grade Criteria.
For example, there can be a parent Grade Criteria (i.e. 'Assignments'), which contains other Grade Criteria (i.e. 'Lab Assignment', 'Quiz', 'Presentation', etc.) that contribute to it.
Grade Criteria fields
|Grade Criteria Name||Name of this Grade Criteria record, i.e. 'Final Exam'.|
|Course||The Course this Grade Criteria belongs to.|
|Sequence||The sequence or order in which this Grade Criteria will be taken by the student.|
|Parent Grade Criteria||The parent Grade Criteria that this record belongs to (if any).
|Weight (%)||The weightage (in percentage) of the grades achieved for this Grade Criteria.
For example, the grades achieved for this exam accounts for 50%.
The Grade Criteria (i.e. assignments, exams) are graded by a faculty member, which will then generate the corresponding Grade records.
The 'Grade Values' and 'Grade Points' in the Grade record are defined in the Grade Settings (see here for more details).
The calculated scores are rolled up the Term Grade as well.
Can be either Grade or Sub Grade, depending on whether this record is the parent or child Grade.
For example, if a Grade record is created under another Grade, it will be a Sub Grade.
|Grade Name||Name of the record.|
|Parent Grade||The parent that this grade record belongs and contributes to.|
|Term Grade||The Term Grade that this record belongs to / is grouped under.|
|Grade Value||The Grade assigned, i.e. High Distinction, Credits. This is defined in the Grade Settings.|
|Grade Points||The Grade Points, i.e. 3, 4, 5. This is defined in the Grade Settings.|
|Weight (%)||The weightage (in percentage) for the Grade Points achieved.|
|Weighted Points||The Grade Points after being weighted.|
|Sequence||The sequence or order this assignment or exam was taken by the student.|
|Notes||Text field for additional notes.|
The Term Grade rolls up the calculated score from all the individual grades (assignments and exams) of that Course. This will also be rolled up to the student's Course Connection record and be displayed as the final grade/score.
It also groups together all the Grades achieved throughout the same Term.
For example, in 2022 Term 2, a student has completed three assignments / exams for the Course 'ICT112 Programing'.
The faculty grades the student, and all three Grade records will be automatically created under a Term Grade record, as can be seen below.
